Fire protection of steel structures

Our company offers effective and tested products for fire protection of structures and products made of steel. When temperature reaches about 260-470 degrees Celsius, steel becomes 50% less resistant. If there are any inflammable gases or liquids nearby, one second is enough for the whole structure to reach this temperature. This could result in the collapse of the structure. Adequate fire protection makes it possible to prevent premature destruction of steel structures caused by high temperature. It also needs to be noted that individual elements of a steel structure may require different levels of fire resistance. It depends e.g. on the function of a given element, the size of sections and the intended use of a given building. When it comes to passive fire protection measures, we use paints, sprays and fire resistant boards.

Fire retardant paints for protection against standard and hydrocarbon fires

Fire retardant paints are one of the means to ensure fire protection of steel structures. Even though steel itself is non-combustible, under the influence of high temperature it may lose its mechanical properties. This may be effectively prevented thanks to properly selected technologies, adjusted to the conditions in which a given structure will be used. In the case of steel covered with fire-retardant paint, thermal radiation is reduced if a fire starts near the structure. The layer of paint ensures effective insulation. Preparations used for fire protection of steel structures usually come in sets, which include primer paint, expanding paint and surface paint. In order to apply fire-retardant paints, we use painting units and tools such as brushes or rollers. Such paints can also be applied by spraying (these are so-called fireretardant sprays). The thickness of the preparation applied to steel depends e.g. on which fire resistance class is required for a given structure. Fire retardant paints come in different colours. It is also worth keeping in mind that apart from paint for steel, there are also other products available on the market, such as preparations from renowned manufacturers designed to protect concrete structures against fire. They are also applied by spraying. Sprays offered by us are distinguished by good technical and sound insulation parameters. Fire retardant sprays make it possible to protect elements with complex shapes against fire because they create a tight coating with desired properties.
